Support from the EU and İTKİB
The Istanbul Fashion Academy (İMA) was founded as part of the Fashion and Textile Cluster Project, organized and financed by the European Union and the Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters’ Associations (İTKİB). The members of İTKİB consist of organisations that are active exporters in the textile, apparel, leather, and carpet industries. While the Academy makes use of İTKİB’s educational experience, industrial knowledge, and connections in the industry, İTKİB will similarly benefit from the trained and talented, young designers and fashion professionals educated at the Academy for the purpose of entering the fashion and textile workforce.
Working Together with International Schools
İMA has collaborated with internationally-acclaimed fashion schools such as London College of Fashion (England), Polimoda (Italy), Institut Français de la Mode (France), and Nottingham Trent University (England). Training is provided not only by local trainers but also by advisers from these international schools. The content of all professional short-term courses and academic classes offered at İMA have been prepared in conjunction with the University of Arts London/London College of Fashion.
Experienced Educational Staff
Since İMA embraces several aspects of fashion from management to design, the Academy’s educational staff consists of both Turkish and foreign fashion trainers with industry experience. |

The building itself offers the advantages of being situated in the heart of Turkish fashion and has modern facilities with classrooms and studios and a comprehensive library.
The Fashion Library
In its educational facility, İMA has Turkey’s largest fashion library including a vast selection of English and Turkish book collections, trend books, and magazines and publications – a comprehensive source for all students and fashion professionals. |
